Docent (Tour Guide) Training

Docents are trained volunteers who engage museum visitors through guided tours. If you have a passion for or interest in art and want to engage audiences, become part of this group of dedicated, enthusiastic educators! We welcome applicants to the SMA Docent Program from all backgrounds. Docents commit to attend trainings, participate for at least one year, and be available to give at least one, one-hour tour per week from February to April.  

Our next Docent Trainings will be held on January 18th 5:00-8:00 pm OR January 19th 10:00 am-1:00 pm you are required to attend one.

Please watch our instructional videos before coming to training. You can find them HERE. Additional readings will be part of this training as well as 2 tours outside training for shadowing & 2 tours being observed.
