You will create a small encaustic artwork through experimentation, creativity, and play.
Led by artist and educator Cindy Clark. Her work explores mark-making, literature, and the inner lives of women. This workshop reflects her love of learning and experimentation with wax. A veteran teacher with 30 years of experience, Clark has received many honors, including Utah Outstanding Art Educator and the UAEA Lifetime Achievement Award. Clark is also an artist on the Utah Division of Arts and Museums roster and teaches encaustic workshops statewide. CindyClarkArt.Weebly.com

Fearless Abstract Painting
Saturday, August 22nd, 2026 10:00 am-1:00 pm |
Step into fearless creation! Join artist Samantha da Silva for a 3-hour immersion in her bold abstract painting approach; rollers instead of brushes, tables instead of easels, and richly textured layers using plaster, salt, sand, and more. In a supportive, heart-centered space, you’ll quiet the inner critic, ignite intuition, and uncover your authentic voice. Through guided rituals and discussions, Clearing Your Channel, Compassionate Critiques, Knowing When It’s Finished—you’ll release fear and claim your creative power. No experience required—just an open mind and heart.
Samantha da Silva (b. 1978) is a third-generation artist whose large-scale abstract paintings explore themes of migration, resilience, and renewal. Raised in São Paulo, Brazil, and later Canada, her life of movement—from coastal roots to Hawaii’s volcanic landscapes and Utah’s red deserts—shapes her practice. Working in direct dialogue with nature, she floats canvases on the Great Salt Lake, exposes them to the elements, and embeds earth, sand, salt, and pigments into textured layers that evoke cracked desert floors and topographic maps. A full-time artist and educator for nearly two decades, Da Silva has taught internationally and leads transformative workshops. Recipient of the 2026 Utah Individual Artist Advancement Grant, her work appears in Architectural Digest, Bravo TV, HGTV, and galleries worldwide. samanthadasilva.com
