AWARDS, PURCHASES & SALES
Cash awards of $3,000 and purchase awards of about $8,000 will be made from the exhibition. Cash awards are made by the jurors, while purchase awards are made by the SMA Permanent Collection Committee & Board of Trustees and will be placed in the Museum’s permanent collection. The Museum will retain a 30% commission on all sales during the exhibition, so please price your work accordingly.   The view the list of award winners, click here.

EXHIBITION CATALOGUE
An illustrated exhibition catalogue for the Spring Salon will be 96 pages with 85 full-page color reproductions. Entry fees are used exclusively for the purpose of producing this catalogue. All submitting artists will receive a complimentary copy of the catalogue for each work of art they enter for jurying. Because of the expense, catalogues cannot be mailed. They may be picked up by the artist anytime over the next year.
Works may also be shown on the Museum’s web pages at www.smofa.org

INSURANCE
Most works of art submitted for Salon Exhibition will be insured from the 8th of April until the 20th of July 2008, while at the Museum. The Museum will only insure for the "fair market value" of a work of art, not necessarily its sale price. The following list details those works that cannot be insured:

• Paintings that are still wet
• Paintings whose surface extends beyond and in front of the frame
• Works of art with previous condition problems
• Fragile and precious art, mixed media, installation, or assemblage pieces
• Any unframed works of art
• Poorly prepared pieces and frames (faulty wires, screw eyes, clips, etc.)
• Works of art behind regular silica glass. (Pastels are an exception; they may be behind silica glass and be insured. Other works must be behind Plexiglas.)
• Pieces with exposed backs, or simple paper backing. (To be insured, works of art on canvas must have the back of the stretcher-bar covered by cardboard, foam core, etc., to protect the canvas.)
