Tours and Field Trips

Guide and Seek is an interactive tour experience for all ages that aligns with state visual arts core standards. During a Guide and Seek tour students and teachers will be led by a skilled art guide to seek and find personal connections to art through discussion and interactive activities.

Three types of docent-led tours are offered through Guide and Seek

  • “Behind the Scenes” gives a glimpse of what it takes to put together an exhibition and models for students how to connect and present works of art (does not include vault tour).

  • “Connect” gives students the opportunity to connect and respond to visual art. It teaches students that art can be used to help exemplify thoughts, feelings, and/or ideals regarding contemporary issues.

  • "SenseABLE" is a new option in 2021 and focuses on a sensory experience for students and visitors, giving them the rare opportunity to touch and feel different aspects of specific artwork as they focus on the element of texture. This tour was designed to offer a hands-on experience for all students, but specifically those with disabilities.

Guide and Seek tours are approximately 30-45 minutes in length and can take place in any of the exhibitions located in the Upper Galleries. Chaperones are required: PreK - 6th grade: 1 adult to 5 students. 7th -12th grade 1 adult to 10 students
